Itinerary: Champoluc, Monterosa Ski
Champoluc, an important ski resort in Monte Rosa ski area
Champoluc is a ski resort in the Italian Alps, located in Ayas Valley, in the Aosta Valley region. The village is dominated by the impressive 4000-meters peak of the Monte Rosa Massif, and it is the most popular and lively winter destination of the area, known at a national and international level, offering a beautiful wide ski area and lots of facilities for everybody.
The ski resort of Champoluc is located 1570 meters above sea level and it has 50 kilometers of ski slopes, mostly blue or red ones (for the beginner or intermediate skiers), served by six ski lifts and spread in two different ski areas, Crest, and Frachey-Alpe Ciarcerio.
Champoluc is also part of a wider ski area, called Monterosa Ski, which boasts 180 kilometers of slopes served by a modern ski system with 38 ski lifts. Thanks to this, you can ski in three different valleys (Ayas Valley, Gressoney Valley and Valsesia) without taking your skis off, passing through Colle della Bettaforca passage (2705 meters high). This large ski area offers every kind of ski experiences, from easy descents to the most exciting ones, giving skiers the opportunity to enjoy their holidays in a variety of breathtaking landscapes.
You can also try off-piste skiing (which Monte Rosa is famous for) or heliski. 'Villy' is an easy trail for cross-country skiers, or the trails in Brusson, which is particularly known for this discipline's lovers. Snow-racket walking and ice-rock climbing are other activities to try while children can have fun on the natural sledding and bobsledding trail, or in a Baby Snow Park.
The town of Champoluc is the most famous ski resort in the Ayas Valley, and it is the perfect starting point to explore the surrounding nature, characterized by peaceful landscapes and a lot of wild animals, such as foxes, Alpine ibex, roe deer, chamois, marmots, and many others.
The village is rather quiet and ideal for families, but it is also a good destination for culture and architecture lovers. You can relax, enjoy a cup of tea in a café, or try some delicious food from the local cuisine in one of the many excellent local restaurants. Champoluc has got everything you need.
