Trentino Alto Adige: this region is composed by two main areas, one around Trento (Trentino) and one around Bolzano (South Tyrol, in Italian Alto Adige). It is located in the north of Italy, right at the border with Austria.

If you are a mountain-goer, this is the region to visit, both in winter and in summer, because its mountains offer visitors awe-inspiring views and environments. The beautiful Dolomites, the famous Pale di San Martino and the amazing valleys (Fassa, Gardena, Fiemme, Non) will enchant with a great variety of landscapes: snowed peaks, green meadows, woods, lakes and freezing cold streams.

Sporty people will be happy to make use of modern facilities, especially in the picturesque and ski resorts of Madonna di Campiglio, San Martino di Castrozza, Moena, Levico, and Canazei. Do not miss the beautiful spa centers, such as Merano and Comano, and take a trip to the valley of lakes and castles in the province of Trento. Beautiful towns and cities are to be visited, especially those that overlooks Garda Lake (such as Riva del Garda), or Rovereto and Bressanone. Trento is a meeting point of the Gothic and Renaissance style, a real pearl among the valleys. Bolzano is also a splendid city, symbol of the Tyrolese culture and style.

Food and drinks: this region's cuisine can satisfy anybody's appetite with its rich dishes made with the local product. The king is the famous speck from Alto Adige, (South Tyrol) followed by lucanica, a pork sausage, and Grana from Trentino. Polenta is a well-known dish, usually served with cheese, meat, sausages or mushrooms while canederli or strangolapreti are served as first courses. The typical strudel is made with raisins, cinnamon and apple, especially those that comes from Val di Non. This region also has a great tradition when it comes to wines : Pinot, Traminer, Teroldego and spumante wines.
