Abruzzo is located in the central-eastern part of Italy, and it is lapped by the Adriatic Sea. Nature and its multifaceted aspects are the masters of this region: from the mountains of the Apennines, down to the hills and valleys, towards beautiful and unspoiled beaches on the coast. The mountain towns of Roccaraso and Pescasseroli, offer ski lovers well-equipped slopes with many facilities. Gran Sasso, Mayella Mount, and Laga Mountains are great places where to spend a winter holiday!

Down to the coast, the landscape is dominated by gentle hills, beautiful valleys, the National Park of Abruzzo and the Aterno Valley. Finally, the sandy or pebbly beaches are great destinations for sea-lovers, also thanks to the many welcoming sea-resorts, such as Roseto, Silvi Marina, Vasto, Ortona, San Salvo, and Tortoreto.

Those who love culture and art should visit the biggest cities like Teramo and its Medieval cathedral, or L'Aquila with lots of treasures, which survived the tragic earthquake in 2009. Small villages such as Sulmona or Scanno are a must-see as well.

Food & Wine: a famous pasta type from Abruzzo is "spaghetti alla chitarra", (pasta made with a specific tool). Many different kinds of bread, meat dishes and cold cuts (such as ventricina) in the hinterland and fish dishes on the coast come from ancient and "poor" food traditions. Do not miss the typical sweets: confetti (sugared almonds) from Sulmona, muffin-like bocconotti, or chocolate nougat from L'Aquila. "Abruzzese Montepulciano", "Sangiovese" and "Trebbiano" are the best wines of the region.
